My name is Eduardo Javier Farias Marcano, I am 28 years old. I am from Venezuela I came here today to ask help for me and my mother, we are stranded in a country where we don't have anything, we don't have a home to come back to. Me and my family were stripped of our lives, our future, by a government that doesn't care for its people. I had to run away from my homeland due to a dictatorial government. My life was in danger, I was robbed of my future, my own well being so I gathered all the money I could and ran away. I have been an immigrant for 7 years now. First in Colombia, a great country, I could not stay due to my economic state, I had no money to even rent a room, so I decided to go to Peru a country which treated me horribly, treating me like a slave, working 12 hours a day just to be paid less than 150$ a month. Since I passed the border between Colombia and Ecuador, which is Ipiales, the weather there was of a low temperature and my body reacted to it, started to feel constantly in pain, I could not find an explanation for that, so I went to a doctor to be able to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia, an illness that put a lot of pain in my joints and muscles. The illness got to a point where I can barely stand on my feet, or grab anything, all my mobility has deteriorated over time. I had to also leave Peru and come to Ecuador, where I am right now, because I was promised a job. I had to come here since they did give some medical help to my kind, where I was able to receive basic medicine for pain. As time passed by, I started to feel more and more pain, to the point where I cannot move freely. My body feels like it’s being stabbed by hundreds of needles, and because of that, I cannot get or hold a job. I tried and my limbs became swollen. Some of the pain is permanent, my fingers cannot hold weight because the pain is unbearable. There are issue with Venezuelans here, we had tainted our reputation, which made virtually impossible to get a job, since I can not hold a job, but before I got to a point where the pain and illness advanced, with the money I made, by not wasting money on things and just barely eating, I was able to bring my mother here, to work together. Untill she got really sick. My mother's medical diagnoses when she left the hospital after being hospitalized for 9 months, 3 of those months in intensive care, in a coma and in an isolation room, were Lupus, autoimmune hepatitis, saf, cholangitis, with loss of muscle mass of 100%, severe malnutrition, unable to walk, lost her sense of time and space, currently, continues with a medical treatment indicated by the hospital, we have not been able to make control tests to follow her development and evolution of said illnesses, by August 2022 she began to evacuate liquid excrement and a lot of pain in the right kidney, Up to now, she continues in the same situation, she underwent an abdominal echo and the result showed gastritis and acute colitis, in the urine test there was abundant blood, she still has not been checked by a doctor because her Dr did not attend the consultation, the medical service status in this country has decayed over time due bad management of the government. Her case was so serious that she became subject of study at the Medical University of Guayaquil, Ecuador, without still being able to clarify what caused all these pathologies and give conclusive diagnosis, she should continue under study, unfortunately the required economic resources only allow us to survive since during the process of my mother's illness a condition that she had been suffering from worsened, In my mother's last check-up, she was diagnosed with Sjögren's syndrome, all this information is verifiable since her medical history rests at the Roberto Gilbert Pontón hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Currently my mother continues a treatment with prednizone, antiplac, omeprazole, carvelidol, azathioprine, chloroquine phosphate, duopas, oursofal, probiotics, I need evaluation by internal medicine, psychiatry, rheumatology, neurology and my treatment is gabapentin, chloride magnesium, neurodolobion. I am the one who takes care of her day and night. She almost died, hospitalized for almost a year with an illness the doctors couldn’t even guess. She survived, sadly. I had to sleep on the cold floor of a hospital for 9 months, which increased the pain and intensity of my illness tenfold. I’ve been able to somehow survive with my job as a digital artist freelancer and some help from a kind person who lent me a hand now and then. I am one of the first sources of income for my family back in Venezuela. I send money every 15 days, taking from my own food and medicine money to send them something so they can eat. Time has come to be harder for everyone, and it has made my life almost unbearable. My mother and I are disabled, she has an enormous illness that renders her unable to work or barely do things here at home. . My plea for help is directed to us to have a second chance in life, to be able to build something, and not just for us two, but our whole family, so i I look for the goodness in your hearts, help us. With nothing else to say, I hope my words sound true and honest to you all.
